Orchid Belly Dance is an award-winning, professional performance
company based in the Bay Area. A dynamic and versatile group of
dancers, they perform modern belly dance fused with cabaret/burlesque,
hip-hop, flamenco, ballet, salsa, Bollywood, and Polynesian dance. In
addition, they offer variety acts that are as comedic as they are
seductive. Their unique approach to entertainment includes using
various props: veils, chairs, parasols, hats and feather boas. They
dance to a wide variety of music: from underground electronic to vintage
1920’s; from circus tunes to modern pop; from the Balkans and Spain to
the Middle East. The Orchids have performed extensively at various
nightclubs as well as festivals, weddings, and restaurants. They have
appeared with artists such as Red Hots Burlesque, Naach Bollywood Dance
Company, Mona Sampath Bollywood Company, Gurus of Dance, and with live
musicians such as The Fishtank Ensemble, Mo’ Rockin Project, Light Rain,
and The Underscore Orkestra.
